All month long we will be honoring African American’s from our home state, Tennessee.
The Nashville Sit-Ins lasted from February 13 to May 10, 1960. Consisting of students primarily from Fisk, Baptist Theological Seminary, and TSU, groups came together and gathered in downtown Nashville at Kress, Woolworth’s, and McClellan to make a stand for Civil Rights. After making their purchases, the students made the monumental move to “sit-in” at the lunch counters. Check out this video for a first hand look into the Nashville Sit-Ins.
